War of the worlds : cold winds vs warm sun

I love Bangalore during winters, It’s cold but still warm. the air is freezing but the sun still shines warm. When it’s warm a strange gust of wind will settle the heat score table. warm but cold at the same time. Only downside it’s always dark by 6. So how am I getting away in the cold with a sleeveless dress. Simple, don’t forget to wear your thermals inside. Don’t like thermals? OK then get urself a light weight foldable trench coat. when it gets cold don’t forget to pull it over.

Is it winter yet?

Well! a few days back I would have said NO! cause my skin still felt like baked potato peels, roasting into crisp wafers.

Now I will say YES! It is winter, well it has started getting cold. I walked out of the house today hoping that I didn’t need a jacket because my full sleeves should keep me warm and when I got off the taxi I was wondering why did I forget to carry my shawl at least?!oversized5

We all have our comfort zone when we travel. Some of us have separate clothes we keep aside specifically for travel, Like my dad who loves his double pocket shirts to store all his junk because it falls out of pant pockets. Yes! I do too have an obsession for pockets but it can be on any piece of the outfit not just the pant. But Every time I choose my travel outfits I keep certain very specific needs in mind.

  1. Pockets – yes because sometimes I wanna stuff those 200ml bottles of juice in my pocket
  2. Stretch fits – always, I’m even ok with tights as long as i have unrestricted movements. Once I wore my boyfriend jeans but the loose fit did save me from tripping over my own feet while climbing down.
  3. shoes – Need to protect my delicate feet from the dirt, bad weather, and long walks. I’m not kidding about the walking. Can anyone name one tourist destination that doesn’t involve walking, no wonder travel is good for your health
  4. small travel bag – Oh yes! a bag too small but big enough to be equal to the biggest handbag you’ve ever carried. believe it or not, for 3 or 4 days of travel, the bag is just big enough!
  5. Covering layer – Probably the most taken granted for by most people. My mom’s robbed my dad of his jacket so many times (But of course he’s always prepared for his wife’s tantrums). I’ve always either carried a light jacket  or a warm shawl sometimes both. you don’t have to carry an oversized jacket if you pick the right outfit layers. At times a good scarf can save you from the sun.
  6. sunglasses – Just because the weather is cold the sun won’t stop shining and I am half blind in bright sunlight.
  7. Jewelry that doesn’t have to come off– this is the part that makes me sick. Unless you are traveling with a specific agenda, pick out some basics. over the years I’ve preferred to wear my tiny gold or diamond jewelry rather than my fancy pieces just because I don’t have to take them off, even while taking bath.

If you have any suggestions or further improvisation on picking out my travel clothes leave a comment below.

Winter is coming!

OK, this isn’t about your favourite episode of Game of thrones. But for real, the winter season is about to start, and August is the mark of the beginning of the cold season. I know a lot of you are going to say what’s wrong with this girl? Winter is December, January, and Feb. So for all of you who don’t live in Bangalore (FYI we get 3 months of scorching summer) it’s just freezing cold especially when it rains. Winter is the best time of the year to play dress up and the best of styles to come out. The best-tailored outfits, multiple layers, warm shoes and all the accessories to dress up the clothes.

So just before all the warm layer of clothes start coming out of my closet would like to indulge in a strong summer outfit. Don’t worry the layering is on it way. But I have to say, every time I look at the necklace It makes me feel like a strong and mighty queen, maybe even a bit evil. Like Jadis, the white Witch, Cersei Lannister, at times even Abaddon (of course she never had a crown 😉 but evil enough I guess)

The great and mighty August is here, Let’s start preparing for winter.

I like the way she says it, heartbreak is the national anthem!

romantic 5.jpg

We seem to have become the pain generation. Back in the 90’s artists would always sing about love, to a point where I felt like they were always going to die of a LOVE overdose. Who was to know that the generation NOW wants to make songs only about heart breaks. Maybe my generation did die of a love overdose? Or maybe the world is conspiring to give the heartbreakers their time in the spotlight? Pain seems to have become the new high.

But some things still haven’t changed, I think Taylor Swift manages to sum up the wild errors of a young idealistic mind in her song new romantics. Some of my favourite parts of the song are

We wait for trains that just aren’t coming. why were you waiting for things to happen? what did you do to make it happen? nothing substitutes hard work and sincere effort.

We’re so young but we’re on the road to ruin. We play dumb but we know exactly what we’re doing. The early 20’s something mind that assumes that instinct is better than knowledge! If you’ve grown older, you’d know instincts grow sharper with knowledge.

We need love, but all we want is danger. Can someone help me out here? How many times have you fallen in love knowing fully well you are with the wrong person?

We team up then switch sides like a record changer. again?

The rumors are terrible and cruel, But honey, most of them are true. Let’s accept it, rumors don’t create themselves.

The best people in life are free. Ok! Bambi you lost me here, Free from what? Let’s face it your brain still wants to be an idealist even after knowing reality.

So Why am I still talking about Taylor and her crazy song? So the release of this song was just before the MET gala and the outfit worn by her on the occasion gave me an awesome idea of how to wear the dress. We have become a generation that finds happiness in dark places.

P.S don’t mind the dirt boots it’s raining in Bangalore
