I remember maybe 8 years ago when street style started becoming that thing everyone raved about. Honestly! I was a bit lost about what was street style, probably I still am. I’ve tried to theorize and find a proper explanation to street style concept but it is very blurry. So let’s stop categorizing especially hippie and gothic styles as street styles. extra bold dressing and inappropriately paired outfits seem perfect for every occasion, off late it has been made appropriate by all major designers.

We all have our comfort zone when we travel. Some of us have separate clothes we keep aside specifically for travel, Like my dad who loves his double pocket shirts to store all his junk because it falls out of pant pockets. Yes! I do too have an obsession for pockets but it can be on any piece of the outfit not just the pant. But Every time I choose my travel outfits I keep certain very specific needs in mind.

  1. Pockets – yes because sometimes I wanna stuff those 200ml bottles of juice in my pocket
  2. Stretch fits – always, I’m even ok with tights as long as i have unrestricted movements. Once I wore my boyfriend jeans but the loose fit did save me from tripping over my own feet while climbing down.
  3. shoes – Need to protect my delicate feet from the dirt, bad weather, and long walks. I’m not kidding about the walking. Can anyone name one tourist destination that doesn’t involve walking, no wonder travel is good for your health
  4. small travel bag – Oh yes! a bag too small but big enough to be equal to the biggest handbag you’ve ever carried. believe it or not, for 3 or 4 days of travel, the bag is just big enough!
  5. Covering layer – Probably the most taken granted for by most people. My mom’s robbed my dad of his jacket so many times (But of course he’s always prepared for his wife’s tantrums). I’ve always either carried a light jacket  or a warm shawl sometimes both. you don’t have to carry an oversized jacket if you pick the right outfit layers. At times a good scarf can save you from the sun.
  6. sunglasses – Just because the weather is cold the sun won’t stop shining and I am half blind in bright sunlight.
  7. Jewelry that doesn’t have to come off– this is the part that makes me sick. Unless you are traveling with a specific agenda, pick out some basics. over the years I’ve preferred to wear my tiny gold or diamond jewelry rather than my fancy pieces just because I don’t have to take them off, even while taking bath.

If you have any suggestions or further improvisation on picking out my travel clothes leave a comment below.

When Ethnic adapts to western dressing

honestly! I don’t why we keep calling cloths western dressing!!!! I find It rude and inappropriate. Haven’t we seen how the slit tunics came into style a few seasons ago? But wait let’s apply a small bit of logic to why we should stop categorizing clothes as western. If the so called western tailoring of clothes originates in Europe, Why do we call western dressing? Isn’t Europe in the eastern hemisphere? so does that not make the best of clothing eastern? Sorry, I’m just habitual inquisitive. So let’s face it the best of everything is truly in the eastern hemisphere, For once I’m proud to be eastern. Tan skin, small and annoying as hell. Wait, I just heard a news report that says china has produced more billionaires than America!

P.S. I did find this Kurta in the western (can’t kill old habits just yet) section of MAX. I will try to style it differently in a few further posts just to show you western or eastern they are just clothes.

A friend of mine once said wear the right shoes and you are dressed up.

reflection-sunglasses

In my case, I’d say wear the right accessories and you’ve worn your armor on a bad outfit day. It’s not like I don’t love the outfit, over the years I’ve just grown too health to fit into it anymore. Also! It’s shrunk length-wise, The rest of which stayed the same. I die for clothes with pockets and the was an amazing soul sante buy. Long before the place got ridiculously crowded. The layering is perfect in this confused weather since all the fabric is cotton. P.S. I almost dumped this outfit shoot. But I’m ❤ ❤ ❤ crushing on the sunnies and how can I dump the shoot when my photographer makes my outfit look good.

Some days I just wish I was a ghost But some days my clothes feel like a ghost.

So it’s not exactly been cold in Bangalore but neither has it been hot, Actually, it’s been very hot! Always feels like it’s going to rain but It’s very hot in the day. Almost wish I was a ghost. But the best thing about day heat is I still get to wear my summer dresses. This dress feels like a ghost. it fits well on the neck and shoulders and then it just feels like your not wearing anything. The jersey even makes it an easy wear even for the mild cold.

Sometimes I like ugly dressing!

Remember the time when ugly was trending. Sometimes I feel the trend is still around. The vetements are in trend theses days. But I’m always for keeping the outfit simple. Not everyone can be a Lady gaga or Taylor swift. And Honestly Off stage I can bet their personal style screams COMFORT, there is only so much you can do to be dramatic. The chain is a basic styling addition for me to the outfit, Every time I’m confused about what to wear I pick out the first long chain and wear it. I guess it’s my teenage thing because I never had enough money to buy myself enough accessories. So the long chain pendants were the cheapest fix  😉 But like always I’ wearing printed pants which are my crazy comfort zone. The tailored Printed pants are neither rigid like denim nor stuck up like trousers. They are a perfect comfort outfit.

So chic! maybe : white jeans, layered peplum top with Chinese silk bag.

But not according to vogue Magazine.

Well according to them bloggers are just desperate and attention seeking. The ‘vetaments’  are just not good enough and street style is an insult to fashion! Oh wait! But I can bet my average reader wouldn’t care for impractical fashion. Again remind me was it not our own alexander McQueen, the king of couture that said

“It’s a new era in fashion – there are no rules. It’s all about the individual and personal style, wearing high-end, low-end, classic labels, and up-and-coming designers all together. “

I guess it really doesn’t matter! As long as my outfits inspire 10 people to dress better, Vogue to me is like the kings and queens of India. Titles of no consequence. They should have evolved with the bloggers when they had the chance. Fashion might not be for everyone but style belongs even to the frog in the pond.

Sometimes you just have to escape.

Most of the times I love to be in the city but sometimes it’s just nice to get away from it. No! really this isn’t much of a getaway and we are still withing Bangalore city limits! In spite of the EXTRA large population, the city itself is still very small. This is a little of Sarjapur road, the city is still filled with farmlands. Sometimes you don’t have to go too far to find quite spaces. Just a car and a pointless direction. I’m never much for the boho trend but the softness of the suede just made it the perfect relaxed outfit I’ve worn in a while. Plus the oxidised silver necklace makes it an easy pairing with a lot of clothes.

Have a great week ahead!

Let’s Visit my Dad’s school

Growing up we always assume “the adults now nothing”. Over the years I’ve had more patience to hear out my dad’s stories, Even though he repeats them for the hundredth time. His stories intrigue my mind at times. Unlike the city life, we go to school, attend our additional tutorials sessions, spend some time with friends, maybe some supervised TV time and then we sleep. The next day we repeat this cycle. Ok just admit nothing much has changed in city life.

But wait let’s hear what my dad has to say. So he spends an unimaginable number of hours trying to convince me his childhood was better than mine. Unlike my dad, I didn’t get to rob the neighbor’s farm of mangoes and sugarcane. I didn’t get to earn my pocket money selling cashew nuts fallen from the trees into the roadside or the gutter!I didn’t get to bunk school because the river was flooded or climbing the massive rocks to get back home because the path from school to home runs through a jungle trail filled with tigers and snakes. I didn’t get to chase the monkey off the farm with cracker guns.

I’m not saying my childhood wasn’t fun but i didn’t live the life of the jungle book adventure growing up. All that I can do is imagine it even as a grown up. So when I did get the chance to visit his school I got to see his life of adventure. Not so much now as back then more than 50 years ago. 😉

Have a great Sunday!

So after my small line up (Click here ), I will continue the styling of my BF jeans for a bit longer Until I can convince myself to get rid of those jeans. Mostly after 5 years of working in uniforms, formals and bare essentials it feels good to style the casuals into something more stylish for everyday errands and work.

The outfit I’m wearing in today’s post is a plain tee mostly. I wear that tee mostly for the colour, full sleeves and the feeling of being snuggled inside blankets. Yes! I don’t need blankets to feel cosy in everyday dressing. I have this tee in 4 different colours. This one’s always my favourite. The pairing of necklaces was an absolute delight. I heard it somewhere pain is a path to just more pleasure! And so the Skull and heart together. Simple ways to create your own layered necklace.
